Starz Denver Film Festival
This award-winning festival features more than 175 films at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and Starz Film Center! Grab some popcorn, find a seat and watch a diverse selection of cinema, from independent to commercial, from all corners of the globe.
Night on the Red Carpet
Paint the town red as select Denver theaters such as Denver Center Theatre, Bovine Theatre and Bunport Theatre roll out special events and a host of deals – including 2-for-1 tickets! – to honor the 150th.
Happy Birthday, Denver!
- Savor a slice of birthday cake at the Denver Zoo and Denver Botanic Gardens at noon! Free admission will be offered at both locations as well as at the Colorado History Museum and MCA Denver.
- Tour the Colorado History Museum’s all-new exhibit, Imagine a Great City: Denver at 150.
- Just in time for the holidays, get your greeting cards postmarked with a unique commemorative cancellation at Denver Botanic Gardens and the Colorado History Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.! Commemorative envelopes will also be for sale at both locations.
- Treat the kids to a free movie screening at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at 11 a.m.
- Take in a special 2 p.m. free performance of “Girls Only” at the Garner Galleria Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Tickets will be distributed starting at noon.

A Dozen on Denver Celebration & Signing
Both Denver and the Rocky Mountain News will celebrate their 150th anniversaries within the year. To commemorate the occasion, the News has commissioned eleven Colorado novelists to write a series of short stories for the newspaper. “A Dozen on Denver: Stories to celebrate the city at 150” showcases these authors, each writing an original piece that explores, in some way, Denver's extraordinary history, using the legendary Larimer Street as a common thread. The series will conclude with this combined-story supplement and a festive celebration, open to the public, with the authors in attendance.

Cherry Creek North "Kick Off" Celebration
The performers at Cherry Creek Dance will salute the City with a Rockettes-style “kick off” with 150 kicks by more than 150 dancers lining Third Ave. Following the kickoff, attendees will be among those receiving a Cherry Creek North gift cards ranging is denominations between $5 and $150. In addition, Cherry Creek North stores will hand out store discount cards, gift certificates and passes. Free parking for the first 150 guests on the parking deck at 299 Milwaukee (enter on Milwaukee St., across the street from Panera)
Holiday Lighting
Witness one of Denver’s most renowned holiday traditions when the City officially becomes aglow for the season! See the lights turn on at the City and County Building, the 16th Street Mall and Union Station. Sponsored by Downtown Denver Partnership.
