Second Annual Denver Arts Week Celebrates Culture
“Denver Arts Week is designed to encourage local residents to get out and explore Denver’s cultural scene and see something new -- visit a new museum, catch a new performing arts group and take advantage of all the culture Denver has to offer. At the same time, our marketing campaign reaches out into the region to advertise the cultural experiences that Denver offers that can not be found anywhere else in our area,” states Richard Scharf, president & CEO of the President of Tourism.
“Our vibrant arts and cultural community makes Denver an enormously attractive place to live, work and play for people of all ages,” said Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. “As we celebrate Denver’s 150th birthday, we are reminded how important arts and culture are in the Mile High City – not just to our quality of life, but to our economic vitality as well.”
To promote Denver Arts Week, the Bureau is mounting an integrated marketing campaign that includes television, print, outdoor and Web advertising. Denver Arts Week ads will appear in 5280 Magazine, Encompass Magazine, the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post, while special television commercials will run on CBS Channel 4. Billboards, radio coverage on KBCO and colorful “bus boards”on RTD buses are some of the other promotions.
New this year are Night at the Museums, an event based on the smash Paris cultural celebration, Nuit De La Musee, in which 11 Denver museums will open their doors for free special events on the evening of November 14, from 5 to 10 p.m. Free parking is available at Cherry Creek Shopping Center with free shuttles that will leave from here and visit all museums, so visitors can hop from museum to museum throughout the night. Also new this year is the collaboration with the 31st Starz Denver Film Festival and “Night on the Red Carpet,” a gala evening that focuses on Denver’s wide array of performing arts options, complete with special events and discounts.
