VISIT DENVER to Sponsor Second Denver Beer Fest in September

To celebrate Denver’s claim as one of the world’s great beer cities, VISIT DENVER is presenting the second annual Denver Beer Fest (www.DenverBeerFest.com), September 10-19, 2010.

The 10-day celebration of beer-centric experiences will include beer tastings at restaurants, beer-paired dinners, “meet the brewer” nights, beer tappings, brewery tours and a variety of entertaining beer events.  From Brew at the Zoo to a special craft beer festival at the Tilted Kilt, Denver will be a celebration of all things beer, leading up to America’s most prestigious beer festival and competition, the Brewers Association’s Great American Beer Festival (GABF), held September 16-18.

Denver Beer Fest also includes the first weekend of Oktoberfest on Larimer Street, a Mile High tradition for 41.

The Web site, www.DenverBeerFest.com, will be a one-stop shop for all things beer, including information on Denver beer events sponsored by some of the more than 400 breweries coming to town for GABF.

Denver Beer Events include:

  • Brew At The Zoo, September 10, 7:00- 10 p.m. Adults 21 and over. Join the creatures of the night at Denver Zoo for a suds safari featuring more than 40 of Colorado's finest breweries, complimentary appetizers, music and dancing at the 13th annual Brew At The Zoo. Ticket Price Includes: Souvenir Tasting Mug, Complimentary Appetizers from some of Denver's best pubs Unlimited Beer Samples from more than 40 of the regions top breweries. $65 for general public, $85 for preview ticket that includes early admission at 6 p.m.
  • Denver Rare Beer Tasting (www.lyke2drink.com/pints/) , Sept. 17. Organizers of the inaugural Denver Rare Beer Tasting report that more than 20 of America’s leading craft brewers have committed to pour rare, limited edition and hard to find brews during the Sept. 17th event at the Wynkoop Brewery.  Presented by All About Beer Magazine, it benefits Pints for Prostates, an awareness campaign aimed at encouraging men to have regular prostate health screenings and PSA tests. Breweries that have accepted invitations will be announced in August.
  • Oktoberfest on Larimer Street:  This 41-year Denver tradition will be held September17-19 and September 24-27 and features ompha-bands, bratwurst, dancing and, of course, beer.
  • The Brewers Association’s 29th Great American Beer Festival (GABF) at the Colorado Convention Center:  The GABF, September 16-18, has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as offering the largest number of American beer’s tapped of any place on earth and attracts 49,000 beer lovers each year, as well as the nation’s top beer writers and critics.  Almost 500 breweries attended in 2009, offering more than 2,100 beers for tastings with 3,308 different beers entering medal competitions.  Colorado breweries won 45 medals, more than any other state.
