Helikon Gallery: "The Lonely Crowd" and "Inner Visions"

Feb 1, 2017 - Mar 11, 2017

Join us for the opening reception of two simultaneous shows, both guest-curated by Abend Gallery: “The Lonely Crowd” in the main gallery and “Inner Visions” in Gallery 101.
“The Lonely Crowd” is an attempt to put some focus on a neglected aspect of the human experience: loneliness. Whether it be the longing that we feel from being away from loved ones, the quiet reflection of solitude, or the cold melancholy of isolation, we’re all familiar with these feelings, but for some reason less willing to acknowledge or talk about them than other emotions.

“Inner Visions” was originally exhibited at Abend Gallery, making a second showing at Helikon in Gallery 101. Imaginative realism, as the cutting edge of contemporary realist painting, combines classical painting technique with postmodern narrative subjects, focusing on the unreal, the unseen, and the impossible, offering visions of humanity’s mythic past, its unexplored future and,in some cases, its terrifying present.
Curated by Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire, Directors of IX Arts.
