St. Matthew Passion

Mar 17, 2017

Artistic Director James Kim conducts the St. Matthew Passion: Magnificent, Intense, and Universal

A pillar of Western music, Bach's St. Matthew Passion is a dramatic retelling of the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus.

The first part highlights the last supper, betrayal and arrest of Jesus.
The second part, takes a more somber tone signaling the inevitability of the story - the trial, crucifixion and burial of Jesus.

With seven soloists, a double orchestra, double choir, and the Colorado Children's Chorale, we are thrilled to share this masterpiece as our season closer.

The audience will also have an opportunity to hear and learn about the work in our pre-concert discussion led by Dr. Dawn Grape, musicologist from Colorado State University, one hour before the performance.

Robin McNeil, OpusColorado
"This entire performance from beginning to end was filled with uncompromising musicianship."
