MCA Denver commissioned The Ladies Fancywork Society, a Denver-based artist collective, to produce a new installation for the front entry of the museum. ?Though this project was produced in cooperation with the museum, the Ladies Fancywork Society often undertakes guerilla craft projects in public spaces, most famously, attaching a massive ball and chain to the blue bear sculpture outside the Denver Convention Center. Working in traditional craft techniques, the artists present feminine interventions in spaces typically occupied by more monumental and masculine forms.
