In the late 1960s and early 1970s photographer Garry Winogrand explored an emerging genre of photography labeled street photography.Often he focused on women—in parks, getting into cars, at parties, exiting stores—creating photographs that highlighted the changing role of women and, at times, the uncertainty of their new place. Some of these photos reveal happy moments—the joy of an ice cream cone, laughter between friends—but others offer glimpses of uncertainly and vulnerability
