The Denver Black Arts Festival is recognized statewide as a quality family event that involves total community participation. It is one of the five largest African-American arts festivals in the United States. The festival builds relationships with corporations, media, government, cultural institutions and has proven to be an excellent marketing opportunity for exposure to the African American consumer. It features a multi-faceted arts program in performing and visual arts, music, dance, theater, film literary, painting, drawings, photography and sculptures. The festival celebrates the greatest local African-American achievers in performing and visual arts through annual presentation of the "Louise Duncan Lifetime Achievement Awards for Excellence in the Arts." DBAF provides an economic boost to the arts and crafts market, generating revenue to sustain local businesses and non-profit groups.
