WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27th

7:30 am – 12:00 pm DELEGATE SERVICE DAY
Michelle Obama and Colorado First Lady Jeannie Ritter kick off the 2008 Democratic National Convention's Delegate Service Day by assembling care packages for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan at Curtis Park in Denver. Michelle Obama will be joined by her mother, Marian Robinson and her two daughters, Malia and Sasha Obama as well as First Lady Ritter's children. Some 1,400 Convention delegates from across the country will participate in a variety of additional service projects in and around Denver. Numerous other party leaders and elected officials will participate at additional sites throughout the city.

Starting at 10:00, am President Jimmy Carter will participate in a park clean-up and tree-planting at Bicentennial Park, and U.S. Representative Diana DeGette (CO) will work alongside women at the Women's Bean Project, an organization that teaches job readiness and life skills for entry-level jobs.
