Security

What kind of security will people have to go through at the stadium?

Upon arrival at the stadium, all Community Credential recipients will be processed through a security checkpoint standard for this kind of National Special Security Event.

What is the earliest time I will be allowed in? What is the latest time I will be allowed in?

The doors will open at 1:00 PM on Thursday for the acceptance speech. You will be permitted to enter until Senator Obama begins speaking. However, we strongly recommend that you arrive early to get your first choice of seating in the Community Credential sections, as those seats will be available first-come, first-serve.

What is the latest I may stay after the speech is over? How will I exit?

We ask that all attendees depart promptly after the speech is over. We strongly recommend that credentialed persons exit INVESCO Field at Mile High by the same route that they arrived.  Again, the most convenient and accessible public transit station is the RTD Lightrail Station or the designated RTD free shuttle routes.

Credentialing

Where will I be permitted to access?

There will be signs and personnel to assist you in finding your seats at the venue. The main Community Credential gates will be on the East and West sides of the stadium. East access will be from 5th and Walnut and across the “Bronco Bridge” to the stadium. East Access will be from Lower Colfax and Morrison Road, near Rude Park. Pedestrians will not be able to access the Stadium directly from Federal Ave north of Colfax.  Volunteers will be there to point you in the right direction based on the credential you show them. They will be fully informed as to what credentials afford access to what locations for the safety and security of everybody in attendance at this historical event.

If I show up without credentials, will there be any areas I am permitted to access?

No.

Where do individuals with Community Credentials sit?

Individuals with Community Credentials will sit in assigned sections throughout the stadium.

How will individuals possessing Wheelchair Accessible Credentials access their seating?

Individuals possessing Wheelchair Accessible Seating Credentials and their companion will be directed to appropriate pre-assigned seating areas upon entry and passage through security check points.

Do I have to sit in the exact seat that my credential has printed on it?

You must sit in the zone that you are credentialed for. For example, if you have a Community Credential, you must sit in the section printed on your Community Credential. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the stadium to point you in the right direction.

Transit

How do I get to INVESCO Field at Mile High?

We encourage all of our attendees to walk, bike, or take public transit to Mile High in the spirit of our attempt to make this convention as green as possible.

There will also be a staff shuttle bus (Lot J) and media shuttle bus (Lower Colfax) running every 15 minutes.

What public transit options are there?

Public transportation is also an available option. RTD will be running 2 inbound shuttle routes to Mile High, both starting at Coors Field parking lots. One will be a direct route from the Coors B-1 lot to drop-off at 5th and Walnut St. The other will begin at 22nd and Blake, and make stops at exisiting RTD stops for pick-up along Broadway to the drop-off location at Decatur St. and Howard Pl. The The shuttles will start running at 11:30 AM, and the last drop-off will occur at 2:30 PM. Return routes will run from the same drop-off locations and run for 90 minutes after the end of the event or until demand ends. You will need a Community or DNCC credential to board these shuttles.

RTD will also increase the Light Rail Inbound and Outbound frequency during the peak hours of the load-in and end of Convention for Community Credentials’ arrivals and departures. Please check the RTD schedules online to find your most convenient routes.

Where will I park?


There is no parking at the stadium. There will be the existing metered parking on the streets, parking garages, and lots that will be priced at the discretion of the individuals owning the space.

I want to ride my bike. Where can I park it?

We encourage you to bike to the event. Bike parking will be available at Rude Park just southwest of the stadium on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will be able to lock your bike in this area.

How will transit be affected? What are the best routes to take if I am driving, biking, or walking?

Traffic around the stadium will be difficult; there will be several locations around the stadium that are not open to the drivers. For walkers, access to the stadium is through the Lower Colfax and Decatur St. For bikers, Rude Park will be available to leave your bike, and there will be signage to direct you from there. To get a better idea of the best route for you to take to the stadium, please look at RTD’s website.

What public transit services will be in effect that night? How much will that cost me?

Public transit will be in effect that night. Please refer to the RTD for costs and the latest updates.

What is the best method for a person with disabilities to get to the event?

People with disabilities in possession of Community Credentials can take public transportation to INVESCO Field at Mile High.  The RTD Lightrail at INVESCO Station and the RTD shuttle routes provide are ADA accessible and volunteers will be available to assist with access through security and into the stadium.

Food and Beverage

Will I be permitted to bring my own food and/or beverage?

You will not be permitted to bring your own food and beverage.

What food and beverage will be sold at the stadium?

All concession stands will open for the duration of the event.

Can I sell food on the premises?

Unless you have previously contracted with the Mile High event, you may not sell food on the premises.

Will there be alcohol sold?

Alcohol will not be available to the general public.

The Speech

Will anyone else be speaking?

There will be a full afternoon of entertainment and other convention activities.

What television and radio stations will broadcast the speech live?

Major television networks and radio stations are planning to broadcast convention live. Please check your local listings. You can also watch a high-definition live feed of the convention on DemConvention.com.

What should I do if I need an Assistive Listening Device?

Individuals requesting Assistive Listening Devices will be directed to Guest Services to sign out ALD equipment. The DNCC is utilizing handheld Blackberry devices with real-time text captioning in partnership with Colorado Captioning.

Other

Will the Mile High experience be accessible for delegates and other Convention attendees with disabilities?

Yes. The Democratic National Convention has worked hard to ensure access for people with disabilities.

Are there any rallies or events that I can attend before and after the speech?

There will be a variety of other convention related events throughout the city, but the events at the stadium are the only DNCC sanctioned event on Thursday evening.

Will I be able to purchase DNCC and Obama merchandise at INVESCO?

DNCC and Obama merchandise will be available for purchase throughout the stadium.
