June 30, 2008

As part of its strong commitment to community and the arts, Target will host a free day at the Denver Art Museum (DAM) on Monday, August 25, to celebrate the Democratic National Convention. This special day will allow Denverites, delegates and their families a chance to view the world-class collections and spectacular exhibitions at the DAM.

“Denver and its strong focus on the arts will take center stage during the Democratic Convention this August, and we are so happy to have an extra day for visitors and locals to enjoy the Denver Art Museum,” said Lewis Sharp, DAM director.

Target selected to sponsor a free day at the Museum as part of its community giving to arts, which has the goal of making cultural facilities affordable and accessible to families of all backgrounds. Through Target national sponsorships and grants, the company sponsors more than 1,500 free days at more than 70 museums and theaters nationwide, as well as cultural festivals and other community-focused events.

“We are proud to sponsor Target Free Day at the Denver Art Museum during the Democratic National Convention and to give the Denver community, and the thousands of delegates and visitors access to this wonderful Mile High City institution,” said Nate Garvis, Target Vice President of Government Affairs.

Thanks to Target, the DAM will open its doors with free admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, August 25, a day the Museum is normally closed to visitors.
