Pepsi Center Community Open House
August 04, 2008
Prior to the start of the Convention, Denver area residents and school children will be among the first to tour the Pepsi Center and see first-hand where history will be made within the Convention hall. The transformation of the Pepsi Center, from sports arena to Convention hall, is a seven week process that will equip the arena with the latest technology, seating for delegates from around the country and infrastructure for media from around the world.
The focal point of the Convention hall is the podium, which will play host to an impressive list of leaders throughout the Convention. Given direction to “break the mold” this cycle, the DNCC production team created an innovative podium design to anchor this technologically savvy Convention. Open house visitors will be first to get a glimpse of the Convention hall before thousands of delegates and other special guests arrive in Denver.
The Community Open House will also feature a special program exclusively to engage students in this historic experience. While children across the country are reading about history in the classroom, the children of Denver and Colorado will be able to experience a little piece of history first-hand. This educational program will include information about the historical significance of political conventions and the role they play in our democratic process.
