Web Audience To View, Live High-Definition Convention Video Through Application Created By Vertigo

August 14, 2008

Continuing its efforts to produce the most technologically savvy event of its kind, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today named Vertigo Software, Inc. the Official Microsoft Silverlight Application Development Services Provider for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Vertigo Software, Inc. has designed the interface for delivering live, gavel-to-gavel, high-definition (HD)-quality video through the official Convention Web site, DemConvention.com.

“This Convention will be open to a larger audience than ever before – and Vertigo’s work will help bring live HD-quality video from Denver into homes around the world,” said Aaron Myers, Director of Online Communications for the DNCC. “Vertigo’s creative and technical teams have labored over every detail of this project and worked seamlessly with the DNCC and our partners.  Their cutting-edge video application will welcome viewers to fully experience the excitement of this historic Convention.”

The Web video interface, which will be online in the days just prior to the Convention, will display the Convention’s gavel-to-gavel, HD-quality video coverage – both in English and Spanish.  Speeches, multimedia content, important Convention business, the “Countdown to America’s Future” webcast and scenes from around Denver will be part of the video content at DemConvention.com. Live video will be presented in a Microsoft Silverlight player and will be archived for viewing on-demand.  Viewers will be able to select their preferred live camera angle for a look around the Convention hall, creating an even more dynamic and engaging online experience.

Vertigo Software, Inc. will also send a team of experienced programmers and designers to Denver during the Convention to assist with live production elements.

“The Convention promises to be an historic one, and Vertigo is thrilled to be working with the DNCC to create a Microsoft Silverlight 2 application that streams HD-quality content live as it happens, enabling people world-wide to participate in the Convention experience,” said Scott Stanfield, CEO of Vertigo.
