The Denver Media Suite features a complimentary oxygen bar where journalists can sit down, relax and breathe five or ten minutes of pure oxygen.
“Oxygen provides energy, helps memory and concentration, relieves muscle stiffness and improves digestion. It’s also the perfect way to remember the Mile High City,” states Richard Scharf, president & CEO of the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau. The Bureau is sponsoring the media hospitality suite as a way to distribute press kits, b-roll video and information about Denver, as well as offering a quiet area for journalists to relax away from the hubbub of the convention.
“Anyone who has visited Denver knows that our 5,280 foot altitude has very little impact on people. Most people feel no different in Denver than at sea level, which is why airplanes are pressurized to 5,000 feet. So while oxygen is certainly not needed at this altitude, it is fun way to remind people they are a mile high and it does give people a mental and physical boost,” Scharf said.
Operated by Denver based Oxygen, Inc., the bar looks like a traditional cocktail bar with four chairs. Patrons sit at the bar and breathe through plastic tubes.
The Denver Media Hospitality Suite is located in Pavilion 3 of the Pepsi Center Compound and will offer press kits, Denver photos and b-roll video in beta and HD formats. Complimentary coffee, beer, water and other amenities are also available at the Media Hospitality Suite.
Journalists outside of the Pepsi Center Compound may obtain the same Denver materials at the Bureau’s Denver Media Relations desk in the 14th Street lobby of the Colorado Convention Center on Aug. 25-28.
The Bureau also has a media assistance desk during media registration in the Sheraton Hotel Denver on Aug. 24 and at the Media Party in Elitch Gardens on Sat., Aug. 23.
