The largest lighting display in Denver comes on nightly at 6 p.m. at the City & County Building, where 600,000 lights deck the neo-classical building. The bell tower plays carols nightly as well.

The 9NEWS Parade of Lights, is the signature event of the Downtown Denver holiday season. The countless sparkling lights, marching bands, giant balloons, majestic floats and delightful characters will once again wow hundreds of thousands. Viewing along the parade route is free, and Grandstand tickets are sold for seating in front of the beautifully illuminated City & County building.

See Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield in a different light this holiday season Wednesday through Sunday evenings, as you wind through a charming forest path decorated with more than 1 million colorful lights at the inaugural Trail of Lights – a new holiday tradition. With the Colorado foothills as a backdrop, this spectacular display will be draped in elegant designs along the countryside, illuminating the plants, trees and hardscape features. Nearly half of all the lights used will be sparkling, energy-saving, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), reflecting the Gardens’ commitment to conservation and sustainability. The Gardens at Chatfield will be transformed into a winter wonderland that includes a children’s play area with a treehouse along the trail path. Tour the restored 1880s homestead that will be decorated in a charming Colorado country Christmas motif. Guests can also enjoy warm drinks to ward off the seasonal chill. The popular HoloSpex glasses, which magically transform the lights into shimmering 3-D shapes, will be available for just $1. Ample parking is available at no cost.

The Boondocks Fun Center (just a few miles north of Downtown Denver on I-25) is all lit up for the holidays. Come enjoy Boondocks Miniature Golf Courses decorated with more than 500,000 holiday lights. This illuminating experience is free when you purchase a round of mini-golf! The cost is $7 for adults, $5 for children eight and under, FREE for kids two and under -- and $1 from each golf purchase will be donated to the Adoption Exchange. Boondocks is open every night through New Year's Eve.
