Denver Launches Online Computer Game to Engage Meeting Planners

June 10, 2008

VISIT DENVER has launched a creative new online initiative targeting meeting planners that reinforces the Mile High City as a leading convention destination. The creation of ‘The Denver Blue Bear’ computer game, www.denverbluebear.com, leverages one of the fastest growing internet trends (online game play) to present an interactive opportunity for planners to learn more about the city.

The game’s central character, ‘Blue Bear’ was inspired by a large sculpture outside the city’s Colorado Convention Center, part of an innovative public art program throughout Denver. It symbolizes the city’s urban creativity, endless blue skies and connection with the Rocky Mountains and the outdoors.

The creation of www.denverbluebear.com provides a platform to engage meeting planners within the current competitive business climate and highlight Denver’s key sales attributes, including:

-         2.2 million sq. ft in available meeting space

-         A range of luxury hotel options

-         Award-winning dining options

-         300+ days of sunshine a year

-         A ‘walkable’ city

-         Vibrant arts and cultural scene

-         Lively nightlife

-         Air-accessible destination.

Each attribute is an icon that the Blue Bear collects, jumping from cloud to cloud with the goal to collect as many as possible to accrue a high score. Meeting planners can win prizes including a plush blue bear, blue bear artist rendering and crocs walking shoes.

The Denver Blue Bear game is a part of an integrated advertising campaign by DMCVB targeting meeting planners.
