Blossoms of Light

WHEN: Nov. 25 - Jan. 1, 2017
WHERE: Denver Botanic Gardens
Denver Botanic Gardens is proud to host Blossoms of Light, an annual family-friendly event that has become a tradition for people across Colorado. The 2015 event features new elements, including the return of the grand illuminated O'Fallon Perennial Walk and the Romantic Gardens. Enjoy thousands of twinkling lights throughout the Gardens, as well as the always anticipated HoloSpex glasses.

A Christmas Carol

WHEN: Nov. 25 - Dec. 24, 2016
The Stage Theatre
Essential to the holiday season in Denver, A Christmas Carol promises to "warm your heart and renew your holiday spirit" according to the Examiner. Based on Charles Dickens' classic novel, this joyous and opulent musical adaptation traces money-hoarding skinflint Ebenezer Scrooge's triumphant overnight journey to redemption.

Colorado Ballet's The Nutcracker

WHEN: Nov. 28 - Dec. 27, 2016

Children and adults will enjoy Colorado Ballet's 56th annual production of The Nutcracker, featuring fantastic characters, brilliant dancing, exquisite sets, dazzling costumes, timeless choreography and Tchaikovsky's extraordinary arrangement performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

9NEWS Parade of Lights

WHEN: Dec. 2 (8 p.m.) & Dec. 3, 2016 (6 p.m.)
WHERE: Downtown Denver

Begin your holiday season at the spectacular 42nd annual 9NEWS Parade of Lights. The two-mile parade route in downtown Denver is the stage for Colorado's brightest holiday tradition. The FREE holiday spectacular features marching bands, ornate floats, and, of course, a special appearance by Major Waddles the Penguin and Santa! Grab your hot chocolate and ear-muffs, this year is going to be better than ever!

Zoo Lights

Denver Zoo
One of Denver's most anticipated events, Zoo Lights spans 70 acres of Denver Zoo's campus, with nightly entertainment, animal encounters, Santa meet-and-greets and, of course, illuminated animal sculptures that swing through trees, jump across lawns hide in bushes and appear in places where they're least expected.

Downtown Denver Holiday Carousel

Denver Pavilions
Create Memories for years to come at the Denver Pavilions beautiful downtown Holiday Carousel. Throughout December, families can enjoy the magic of the holidays from the perch of a horse on a beautiful carousel. $3 per ride or free with voucher or a canned food donation.


Jewish Colorado Menorah Lighting

Every Jewish home lights a menorah each night of the holiday but there is something special about coming together to light the community menorah with the other Jewish families in Denver. Join JEWISHcolorado for their annual celebration.

Family Hanukkah Celebration

WHERE: Jewish Community Center, 350 S. Dahlia St

Kick off the holiday during the Family Hanukkah Celebration. Explore all the music, lights and festivities of a Hanukkah carnival with plenty to enjoy. This is also a wonderful way to meet other Jewish families in the area, make some new friends and celebrate together.


Extreme Mammals

Fill some of your family time Thanksgiving weekend with a trip to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science's Extreme Mammals exhibit, where you'll meet some of the largest, smallest and most extreme mammals Mother Nature has ever dreamed up. 

Washed Ashore, Art to Save the Sea

WHEN: Sept. 24-Jan. 16, 2017
Denver Zoo
See 15 giant sculptures of sea life made almost entirely from debris collected from beaches. Developed by the non-profit group The Washed Ashore Project, the exhibit is meant to create awareness about marine debris and plastic pollution though art. Washed Ashore, Art to Save the Sea will be open for the public to enjoy daily, weather pending and will be free with regular admission to the zoo.

Mummies: New Secrets from the Tombs

WHEN: Oct. 14, 2016-Feb. 5, 2017
Denver Museum of Nature & Science
Ancient Egyptian and Peruvian mummies, many of which have never been on public display, come to light at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science come to light for Mummies: New Secrets from the Tombs. More than 20 mummies reveal secrets about the burial rites of their respective cultures, plus details about their lives and the societies they lived in. Visitors will enjoying seeing elaborately decorated coffins, sarcophaguses, mummification tools and animal mummies. Plus gain insight into how the latest technologies make it possible to delve further into the distant past.
