Truth or Dare Denver

Unique Denver Shopping Experiences. Shopping in Denver is far removed from most cities’ typical blur of chain stores and big boxes – independence is flourishing in this very Western city, with a healthy mix of shops, boutiques and galleries you’ll find here and nowhere else. From the expected Western wear to the surprising skimpy lingerie emporium, the Mile High City has it all for the shopping enthusiast. Not just downtown, but in increasingly lively neighborhoods such as Highlands, Cherry Creek, Old South Pearl and Old South Gaylord, the city is bursting with exciting entrepreneurial vim and vigor - sometimes, even we native Denverites are dumbfounded at how our city is evolving while still retaining its distinctive character.

  • Wizard’s Chest

The Wizard’s Chest has graced the tony Cherry Creek North shopping area since 1983, when this not-just-a-costume-store burst onto the neighborhood with its mystical, magical feel. Originally inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, the store capitalized on the idea of an imaginary world in a place called Middle Earth. The Wizard’s Chest’s two-story, 8,000+ square foot, multi-sensory, fantasy-inspired castle greets customers with a metal sculpture wizard and a drawbridge. Inside, another wizard stands adorned in purple velvet holding a staff tipped with a crystal ball, leading all who enter into the exquisite fantasy décor. The entire second floor of the castle is devoted to hundreds of costumes, make-up and accessories. Young children and renaissance costume devotees can have a ball here, as well as aspiring ballerinas, princesses, knights and super heroes. The store promotes hands-on play, with chessboards set out, often inspiring friendly games between customers and the staff. New games are open for perusal, as well as magic tricks, windup toys, books, jigsaw puzzles, puppets, stuffed animals and science toys. In-store tournaments for collectible cards games such as Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh are held weekly, while juggling and yo-yo enthusiasts also hold tournaments and club meetings at the Wizard’s Chest, drawing hundreds of spectators.
