With 85 miles of paved urban bike trails, metro Denver is a haven for cycling enthusiasts. In 2020, PeopleForBikes, the non-profit that created the PlacesForBikes City Rating, ranked Denver the #8 best city for biking in the U.S., placing us in the top two percent of cities in the nation. The ranking was based on quantity of riders, rider safety, ease of getting to a destination, growth rate of the bike network, and how well the bike network serves all neighborhoods in a city. In 2020, Redfin ranked Denver #4 in the country for its “biking friendliness” among the nation’s cities with a population of 300,000 or more. The rankings were based on bike lanes, hills, destinations and road connectivity and bike commuting mode share. The Bike League for America awarded Colorado the #7 spot on its 2019 annual state ranking for most bicycle friendly states based on the bicycle friendly communities, businesses and universities located within it.
