Denver, Co. - April 13, 2015 - VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced Jesse Davis as the new director, communications responsible for public relations and communications efforts, content and media relations.

"Jesse Davis has a proven track record of strategic leadership and management in public relations and communications throughout his career. Additionally, with global awareness of Denver increasing steadily year-over-year, Jesse's vast experience handling international media relations will make him a huge asset to the communications team at VISIT DENVER." said Richard Scharf, president & CEO of the Bureau.

As communications director, Davis will be responsible for developing and overseeing the global public relations strategy for VISIT DENVER, with the goal of increasing awareness for Denver as a convention, meeting and vacation destination. In addition, the communications director provides strategic direction for the Bureau's content and social media efforts. Davis will act as spokesperson for Denver tourism-related media inquiries, proactively pitch Denver as a travel destination and attend relevant travel conferences in order to continue bringing awareness and attention to The Mile High City, among other duties.

Davis brings more than 20 years of public relations experience to VISIT DENVER, most recently as the director of international public relations for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). During his tenure at LVCVA, he expanded their global PR efforts and business traveler exposure through international media events and social media campaigns, including overseeing media efforts for International Pow Wow (IPW) 2013, the largest domestically-based international travel trade conference in the United States, which will be held in Denver in 2018. In addition, Davis handled the grand opening and media relations strategy for The Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, served as a spokesperson for Las Vegas Water District/Southern NV Water Authority, and worked at the branding agency responsible for LVCVA.

Davis serves on the board of PRSA Travel & Tourism and is a member of the U.S. Travel Association's Communications Committee. Davis earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations-Journalism from San Diego State University.
