Join award-winning New York Times columnist and popular science author Carl Zimmer and Dr. Chip Colwell, senior curator of anthropology and editor-in-chief of the digital magazine Sapiens, for a conversation about the force that has shaped human society— and is about to shape our future even more radically: heredity.
In his new book She Has Her Mother’s Laugh: The Powers, Perversions, and Potential of Heredity, Zimmer presents a history of heredity. Weaving historical and current scientific research and his own experience with his two daughters, Zimmer ultimately unpacks urgent bioethical quandaries arising from new biomedical technologies, as well as long-standing presumptions about who we really are and what we can pass on to future generations.
