A Journey to the Uncanny Valley

Nov 11, 2017

According to a recent poll, 43% of Americans are afraid of clowns to some degree. That's more than are afraid of terrorist attacks, a loved one dying or death in general. From the classic Chatty Cathy to this year's Luvabella and beyond, parents have be unnerved by the dolls their kids love.

Why? You may think you have an idea, but there are multiple reasons - from things as simple as the images in movies and the news to things as mysterious as the ways our brains identify and react to danger. On Oct. 13th from 6-7pm, we're going to discuss, while showing some of the spookiest dolls in the museum's collection.

Did we mention that the Denver Museum of Miniatures, Dolls and Toys is in an old house filled with dolls? Old dolls. Some of which are clowns.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for folks under 16. This price includes admission to the museum. Proceeds will help the DMMDT find a new home next year. Come anytime after 3pm on Nov. 11 and tour the Museum before the lecture!
