Barry Osborne and Marvel West

Sep 29, 2018

Barry Osborne is a Denver-based singer-songwriter who plays the banjo. His September 29 concert in Tuft Theatre will serve as the release show for his debut EP, Back of the Title Page.

The independently released, five song collection uses daily life to take a look at growing up and getting older, while presenting the banjo in a variety of musical settings.

Barry takes inspiration from old time musicians like The Carter Family and Clarence Ashley, and Indy rock in the vein of early REM and Beat Happening.

Joining Barry in Tuft Theatre will be multi-instrumentalist Brian Nelson, who also produced the EP, and longtime friend Lindsay Taylor, who will play fiddle and sing.

"I'm pretty sure you're supposed to do this differently," Barry says with a laugh. "Who starts their music career in their early 40s - on the banjo?"

Back of the Title Page begins to answer that question.

Marvel West is a one person band steeped in Americana and country roots. Their songs are simple, heartfelt, and honest. This Denver based Midwesterner will catch you off guard with their tales of highroads and heartbreak.
