Best Rest in the West
Oct 6, 2018
This joint venture between the Brown Palace Historian, Centenial tours and the Fairmount Heritage Foundation offers an incredible glimpse at two of Denvers Iconic properties! The Brown Palace and Fairmount Cemetery including the Fairmount Community Mausoleum.
Our event begins at the "Brown" where you will visit some of the beauitful spaces of this landmark hotel including the Ships Tavern, the Boettcher Board Room and room 904. This is the suite that Louise Sneed Hill of the Sacred 36 called home the last years of her life. There you will meet some of the deceased both the properties have in common.
From the "Brown" we travel by bus to Fairmount Cemetery . At Fairmount we begin in the beautiful Fairmount Community Mausoleum where we meet the Boettchers including Charles and Fannie Boettcher. From the mausoleum we take a stroll through the grounds of the cemetery. There we will see the grave sites of Frank Edbrooke. He was the architect for the hotel, Henry Cordes Brown himself. We also meet Louise Sneed Hill & Macy Tabor. Our event concludes with afternoon tea with Mrs. Hill herself!
After "Tea" you will enjoy a relaxing ride back to the "Brown".
