Claire Heywood / Kiltro / Sydney Clapp
Mar 7, 2019
Claire Heywood will release her debut full-band EP with support from Chilean-Folk outfit Kiltro and experimental folk artist Sydney Clapp (full band.) 21 & up.
About the bands:
CLAIRE HEYWOOD is a Denver-born singer-songwriter whose smoky, emotive voice and thoughtful lyrics have captivated audiences in vulnerable solo shows. A longtime creative writer, Heywood quietly explored the crafts of vocal performance and songwriting for two years before beginning to play sets in small listening rooms, mostly in connection with Colorado's literary / arts scene. Heywood’s EP was recorded at Third & James Studios with a full band to invoke Heywood’s influences from jazz and soul to blues and folk: Ella Fitzgerald, Lucinda Williams, Frazey Ford and Amy Winehouse. The result is a tender and dramatic debut from a thoughtful songwriter and vocalist.
KILTRO is the brainchild of Chilean-American singer songwriter Chris Bowers Castillo. Conceived in the lively, bohemian port city of Valparaiso, Chile, Kiltro draws much of its thematic energy from Latin-American folk artists like Victor Jara, Atahualpa Yupanqui, and Inti-Illimani, making for an emotive and stylistically unique merging of older genres with contemporary ones. Kiltro will be releasing an album later this year.
SYDNEY CLAPP makes experimental folk music warranting a box of tissues and an open heart.
