FRIDAY AFTERNOON CONCERTS & ART SHOWS featuring Felonius Smith Trio
Arts Longmont, in partnership with the Longmont Museum presents the first concert of the 2017-18 season. The Felonius Smith Trio accompanied by the Dia de los Muertos altar exhibition opens on Friday, October 20.
Felonius Smith Trio—The Roots Of American Blues
Historic delta blues, country blues, and folk blues—Felonius Smith Trio performs prewar blues music at its most authentic. With slide-resonator guitar, upright bass, sousaphone, and harmonica, the trio takes us back to a time when original bluesmen from the 1920s and 1930s were pioneering a new style of music. This is the old American blues music that inspired Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, and Ry Cooder.
Dia de los Muertos
Encompassing the entire atrium, the Day of the Dead installation is a series of 10-12 altars built by community members altars created by members of the Longmont community. Each altar is unique to a family with traditional items such as candles, flowers, saints and photographs… a collection of honoraria dedicated to lost loved ones.
Tickets can be purchased online at longmontcolorado.gov/museum or by calling 303-651-8374.
