Details

The sounds and styles of vocalist/composer Jocelyn Medina cross cultures, creeds and continents. A veteran of the New York jazz scene and producer of the weekly “Sunday Vocal Jazz Jam” series, now in its 7th year, she is fast becoming a strong, new element of the Denver/Boulder music community. Jocelyn developed her unique blend of jazz, neo-soul and world music over the course of two decades of studying, performing, recording and touring in and around the NYC area as well as abroad in Ghana, India, Spain and Brazil. Since moving to Colorado in 2021, she has been collaborating with great local musicians such as Peter Stoltzman, Bill Kopper, Bill McCrossen and Dru Heller, who will join her in a very special Valentine’s Day weekend performance at Dazzle. Listeners can anticipate an eclectic mix of jazz, Brazilian and original music that celebrates love and the human condition.

“Medina offers the jazz listener a musical journey that takes the foundation of Latin and Jazz idioms and successfully redefines the experience with thought provoking lyrics and vocal abilities far beyond the norm.” – All About Vocals

A voice seductive, delicate, resonate, and crystalline – a major humanist who happens to communicate through singing.” (5 stars) – Amazon
