Loveland Pass Astrophotograpy Workshop

7/31/2019, 8/1/2019, 8/2/2019, 8/3/2019

Come learn from Alex McGregor and I atop of Loveland Pass, Colorado! This is a 3 day workshop and the itinerary is:

July 31st, 2019 we will meet in Frisco or close to Frisco for a 3 hour classroom seminar. This will cover the basics of astrophotography and make sure everyone is on the same page. Bring your gear with you!

August 1st, 2019 we will be shooting this night and hopefully have clear skies!

August 2nd, 2019 will be another shooting night.

This is a basic astrophotography workshop, we will be teaching how to plan, prepare, foundations of astronomy and astrophotography, and much more. We might dabble in some more advance techniques such as stacking if time permits. This is not a tracker workshop and we will not be teaching about this technique. We want you to gain an advantage that we did not have when we first started astrophotography. Mostly we want our students to obtain knowledge how to be prepared in situations and we want to showcase ways we think that if we had at first it, it would have completely changed how we shoot. Our goal is for every student to get multiple images they are happy with and we will be helping everyone the whole time. We will not be shooting, maybe just to capture video or group pictures but we will focus on students and helping them the whole time while they are shooting.

Requirements: Must be over 21 (if under 21 must have parent or guardian sign contract). Must have a decent camera, it is not required to have a full frame camera but it is recommended. Must have at least 1 lens that is below f/2.8 stop and the wider the better! I shoot primarily with a 20mm f/1.8 it is perfect for astrophotography. Anything above a 35mm lens will be hard to shoot with and will not let you shoot for very long exposures. I recommend prime lenses as well, they tend to perform better than variable zoom lenses for astrophotography. Must have a tripod! Intervalometer or remote shutter release is recommended for any long exposure photography.
