MAHLER Symphony No. 3 in D minor

These performances mark Andrew Litton's fond farewell as Music Director of the Colorado Symphony after three years at the helm. In this concert he takes patrons in Denver on a musical journey with Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 3. The 99-minute, six-movement masterpiece is far from a concert staple, largely because of the symphony's musical challenges and the large number of musicians required. Soloist Michelle DeYoung is a local favorite, a mezzo-soprano vocalist with an international reputation. DeYoung's credentials are impeccable: The 2003 recording of Symphony No.3 with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony won Michelle a GRAMMY® award for Best Classical Album.
