Dynamic Variation:

Opening Reception: Robischon Gallery Solo Exhibits

Nov 5, 2021

Robischon Gallery is pleased to present solo exhibitions featuring artists Paco Pomet (Granada, Spain), Walter Robinson (Santa Fe, NM), Tom Judd (Philadelphia, PA), Gary Emrich (Denver, CO), and Terry Maker (Louisville, CO). The painting, sculpture, mixed media and video installation works on view symbolically address a range of complex historical issues, cultural relationships and conditions still present and challenging in the contemporary world. Touching on a variety of weighty themes and handled in an uncommon, unexpected fashion by the five artists on view, the concurrent exhibitions offer an engaging look at America’s past and present through a socio-political lens with an absurdist sensibility. Painters Pomet and Judd, along with video artist Emrich, take full artistic license with photographic or filmic references of the past, while sculptors Robinson and Maker, carve and cast larger-than-life provocative narrative works. As the artists take stock in this tentative cultural moment – precariously built, yet familiar and rich with potential – overriding questions remain for each in dialogue, “What do we value as global citizens and what kind of world do we seek?”
