Pete Lewis Quintet Plays The Jazz Crusaders
May 4, 2018 - Jun 29, 2018
A special Friday Night Residency series featuring the musical legacy of the "Jazz Crusaders" hard bop pioneers (and later fusion pioneers as the "Crusaders") is performed by Pete Lewis and his Quintet.
The Jazz Crusaders were influenced by many of the hard bop groups of that time period including Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and Horace Silver. They became the "Crusaders" in the period when jazz groups were experimenting with electronic instrumentation and funk/hip hop beats. They still stayed close to their roots of creative improvisation with well crafted tunes. In addition to Jazz Crusaders works, some original material by Pete Lewis and Adam Bartczak inspired by the Crusaders will be featured.
Pete Lewis - Sax, Adam Bartczak - Trombone, Patrick McDevitt Bass - Justin Adams Keys/Piano - Mike Marlier - Drums
