Raptor Day

Sep 10, 2021

Details

Live raptor experience from Raptor Education Foundation (REF) at Denver Botanic Gardens! No other raptor group in Colorado comes close to REF's level of knowledge, experience and creativity.

Visitors can find different Raptor Stations throughout the Gardens and learn the natural history of each of the species represented and the importance of raptors to ecological diversity. REF staff will discuss numerous topics including predator/prey relationships, habitat preservation and more.

This experience is great for all ages and welcomes families and home school groups to ask an expert questions they have about these fascinating birds.

The Raptor Education Foundation has been promoting environmental literacy since 1980 by providing schools, corporations, conventions and gatherings of all sizes unique innovative programs and seminars that connect people with the natural world. REF utilizes an extensive cast of live, non-releasable raptors to educate the public about environmental issues. REF has field experience in Africa, the Caribbean, Micronesia, Fiji, Mexico, Central and South America, Australia, Indonesia and Russia.

Raptor Stations are located in the Annuals Garden & Pavilion and June's PlantAsia. A special sketching station on the West Terrace will be set up for students in the School of Botanical Art & Illustration (SBAI) programs.
