Real News Day

Apr 27, 2018

Real News day will open with a morning panel at the Colorado Capitol building on the topic of the #MeToo phenomenon, featuring Kindy, Colorado Speaker of the House Crisanta Duran, and representatives of the University of Denver and the Denver community.

Then, at the University of Denver's Cable Center at 12:30 pm, You're invited to the 25th Anniversary Estlow Anvil of Freedom Award Lecture by Kimberly Kindy, investigative reporter for The Washington Post, who worked on the Post's 2016 Pulitzer Prize-winning series on police shootings. Kindy will speak on the importance of journalism in times of turmoil and what journalists can do to combat the spreading fear of "fake news."

Finally, the Denver Press Club will honor Marty Baron, executive editor of The Washington Post and who led The Boston Globe team that won a Pulitzer Prize (as shown in the Oscar-winning film "Spotlight") with its most prestigious prize, the Damon Runyon Award.
