Root Down Organ Trio
Matt Fuller introduces the Root Down Organ Trio to Nocturne for the first time ever. With long-time musical cohorts Mike Schwartz on organ and Mark Emmons on drums this trio focuses on the groove/funky side of the organ trio tradition. The collaborative trio will be exploring music by the likes of The Meters, Jimmy Smith, Grant Green etc. as well as adding some arrangements of popular tunes and jazz standards.
Guitarist Matt Fuller has an approach to music that is rooted in tradition, but encompasses the modern. Some highlights of Matt’s performance career have included several U.S. tours, steady gigs in both New York City and Colorado, and even a performance at the Kolkata Jazz Festival in India.
He was the guest guitarist for Idina Menzel with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at Red Rocks Ampitheater. Other artists he has performed/recorded with include: Cuong Vu, Bill Ware, Scott Amendola, Amir ElSaffar, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Future Jazz Project, Eric Roberson, Ron Miles, Rudy Royston, Colin Stranahan, Dana Landry, Jim White, Erik Applegate, John Gunther, Keith Waters, Don Aliquo, Clay Jenkins, Ed Soph and singer/songwriter Megan Burtt.
