Sam Keedy DSA Recital

May 26, 2019

Sam Keedy: Trombone
Alec Streete: Vibraphone/Keys
Alex Heffron: Guitar
Tony Golden: Bass
Braxton Kahn: Drums

The set would consist of a number of standards as well as some original works by Sam, which are heavily influenced by composers such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Bill Evans. The quintet holds a strong understanding in straight-ahead and contemporary jazz with some incorporations of electric instruments and more hip-hop oriented styles among the jazz tradition.

Born and raised in Greeley, CO by classical musicians, Sam Keedy has known music all his life. Picking up the trombone at age 12, Sam soon fostered a love for jazz and left Greeley in 2016 to finish his high school career at the prestigious Denver School of the Arts. Since then, he has studied with some of the leading voices in jazz, including Shane Endsley, Dave Liebman, Greg Gisbert, The Clayton Brothers, Terrell Stafford, and Wycliffe Gordon to name a few. Sam also recently toured Japan and performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival with the esteemed Next Generation Orchestra.
