Share Classic Sharon Brown: The "Virginia" Series

Jul 6, 2018 - Aug 17, 2018

Sharon Brown's paintings of a neighbor named Virginia return to The Pattern Shop Studio for a summer exhibit. Based on old black and white photos she rescued from the trash after Virginia died, the series colorfully depicts moments in the life of a Denver girl who goes to New York City in the 1940's to be a secretary in an advertising agency, lives the high life, eventually returns home and slowly succumbs to alcoholism and dementia.

The paintings are arresting and poignant reminders of the joy, sadness, and dignity of ordinary people living ordinary lives.
