The Coexistence Trio

Coexistence Trio is a homegrown indie jazz group based in Denver, featuring pianist Peter John Stoltzman, drummer Andreas Schmid, and bassist John Grigsby. The music has the Euro-jazz aesthetic of EST, the soulful seeking of 1970s Keith Jarrett, and the modern harmonic ideas reminiscent of Robert Glasper.
Stoltzman, the head of piano at CU Denver, has performed with jazz luminaries such as Steve Gadd and Eddie Gomez, Yosvanny Terry and Tia Fuller. After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1999, he was a founding member of the innovative live drum'n'bass band, Kudu. He also toured and recorded with the American Music Award-winning funk band, The Bomb Squad, singer Javier Colon (winner of The Voice), and made Hip Hop tracks for Warner Bros.
Grigsby, is a creative and multi-talented artist in the Denver region, performing with songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov, funk band SuperCollider, Mondays at the Meadowlark, and soulful jazz vibraphonist/keyboardist Greg Harris. But Grigsby is also a visual artist, making acclaimed music videos, and unique animations.
Schmid, a native of Switzerland, also attended Berklee College of Music in the late 90s. He has quickly become an in-demand drummer in the Denver area, performing with the blues band, Delta Sonics, and Spherio, Tenia Nelson's neo-soul take on the music of Thelonius Monk. Schmid was the driving force behind the jam sessions that evolved into Coexistence Trio. He can also be heard with European acts, such as the nu-jazz group, Mo
