Virtual Tour: Art in Times of Crisis

Jul 14, 2020

A crisis is something that forever changes the way we live. How we handle a crisis can set us apart or glue us together. The start of this year was marked by the outbreak of COVID-19 and now we are grasping towards a reckoning with systemic racism that has plagued the United States since its founding. Clyfford Still continued to create through multiple periods of crisis during his lifetime: the Spanish Flu, the Great Depression, World War II, the Cold War and his own personal battle with cancer. Join CSM educators on a free, 45-minute, virtual tour of our galleries to share in a discussion in which we’ll be placing Still’s work in this historical context of crisis, and considering the manifestations of crisis in the work of the artist.
