Westward in the Age of Rail
Feb 1, 2019 - Feb 28, 2019
With the coming of rails to the West in the 1870s, westward expansion took on a decidedly ironhorse look. While some still ventured westward on covered wagons, railroads not only made the trip faster, but could transport as many or as few of your belongings as you wished plus – they could sell you the land on which to settle. This exhibit uses objects and archival materials to explore what it took to come west in the age of rail.
