What Americans Believe.
We have never been more divided, or have we?
Rooted in a deep history that includes religious traditions, social tribalism, race and gender politics, popular culture, a written constitution, a free press and “Yankee Individualism”, Americans possess a complex understanding of the world around them. In this election season, The(Work)Collective examines the diverse and deeply held beliefs of the American people. This exhibition contains 1200 “badges” from a researched list of bipartisan data. All of which will cause some confusion, anger, and disbelief for some and allegiance for others. Participants will be offered a button from the exhibition. Free free to pick a common belief but consider a random selection. The importance is in the conversation and that, if you are an American, all of these beliefs might be considered your own.
The(Work)Collective is a multidisciplinary creative combine with members extending throughout Denver and the Midwest. In 2012, Mark Moffett teamed up with TimeTo Productions to create WORK, a two-story video and sound installation, activating the vacant Agave Building on Woodward Avenue in Detroit’s Cultural District as part of Dlectricity: Nuit Blanche Detroit. Since then, The(Work)Collective has exhibited extensively throughout the Midwest, including Lost Arts in Chicago, Artomatic419 in Toledo, IngenuityFest in Cleveland, and their 2014 Dlectricity follow-up titled “CUbE x WORK feat. Paxahau”. Today, (Work) develops and produces a wide range of creative projects, including curated art shows, installations, workshops, digital hardware platforms, special effects, flame effects, art cars, ice cream trucks, and/or any means necessary to help promote a world of collaborative expression.
