Wild Wednesday Hikes - Montane

Jun 12, 2019

Spend the morning with a guide learning about the montane life zone and searching for montane wildflowers.

This hike will occur at Colorado's newest state park, Staunton State Park, which is approximately a 40-mile drive from Denver. This park showcases pine forests and mountain meadows and an array of wildflowers including several species of penstemon, wild currant, raspberry, and rose, wild geranium and iris. There is also an abundance of wildlife, several streams, unique geology, and one waterfall. The participants will be provided with a plant list which includes scientific and common names of some of the plants that may be encountered.

This hike will be moderate and 4 miles or less.
