Resident Conductor Christopher Dragon leads a lively performance brimming with music as a celebration of humanity. Schumann's Symphony No. 1, dubbed "Spring," conjures up the longing for new growth and renewal. For Schumann, spring was a feeling, a rapturous optimism, a lust for life, writing, "I wrote the symphony in that rush of spring which carries a man away even in his old age, and comes over him anew every year" – a fi tting fi nale to an enrapturing performance of song and dance.
