Denver Advances As Only USA Bid City For 2030 Gay Games XIII
Gay Games Denver 2030 Bid Committee Submitted Official Bid Book, Advanced to Top Seven
DENVER, COLORADO, USA (August 27, 2024) Earlier this month the Gay Games Denver 2030 Bid Committee (GGDEN), in partnership with VISIT DENVER, submitted their official bid book to the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) to host Gay Games XIII. This important milestone formalizes Denver’s status as a semi-finalist to host the FGG’s 2030 Gay Games. As announced by the FGG, Denver is now one of seven potential global host cities moving on in the bid process.
Denver’s 100 page bid submission details plans for 36 different sporting events and a complementary slate of cultural events to take place throughout the Denver Metro Area. A Denver-hosted Gay Games would bring over 12,000 participants and spectators from across the world to the Mile High City, joining local participants in events designed to promote the FGG mission of promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in sport and culture for all.
Next, GGDEN will travel to Washington, D.C. October 25-27, 2024 to present Denver’s bid to the FGG site selection voting body, making the case for Denver to be one of the final three cities selected as finalists for the 2030 Games.
Denver will be joined by the other cities that advanced to the top seven:
- Auckland, New Zealand
- Cape Town, South Africa
- Edmonton, Canada
- Melbourne, Australia
- Perth, Australia
- Taipei, Taiwan
Denver is bidding to bring the Gay Games back to the US for the first time since 2014, with recent games hosted in Paris (2018) and Hong Kong and Guadalajara (2023); the 2026 games are set to take place in Valencia, Spain.
