Summer at the Center: Squirrel Nut Zippers
The Squirrel Nut Zippers began their musical journey in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the mid 1990’s, as a musician’s escape from the cookie cutter world of modern rock radio at the time. Jimbo Mathus along with drummer/percussionist Chris Phillips formed the band as a casual musical foray among friends and family in the area. It wasn’t long before the band’s quirky mix of Jazz chords, Folk music, and Punk Rock leanings spread out of the region and attracted a national audience.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Summer at the Center: Hot Club of Cowtown and The Western Flyers
Since 1998, the Western swing-gypsy jazz trio Hot Club of Cowtown has traveled the world bringing their own brand of magical musical chemistry to audiences far and wide.

Along with Elana James, guitarist Whit Smith and bassist Jake Erwin are equal partners in this original marriage of gypsy-jazz-inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt — which accounts for the “Hot Club” portion of their name — with the hoedowns, traditional tunes, and Western swing-inspired music of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, represented in the “Cowtown” of their name. They have created a legacy of the preservation of musical traditions that have often been overlooked by the mainstream and alternative music worlds. Even Americana and roots enthusiasts have only scratched surface of the multitude of musicians, past and present, who continue to inspire the Hot Club of Cowtown.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Summer at the Center: Toad the Wet Sprocket
Toad the Wet Sprocket (Glen Phillips on lead vocals and guitar, Dean Dinning on bass and vocals, Todd Nichols on lead guitar and vocals, and Randy Guss on the drums) share in the kind of musical chemistry that can only come from meeting in high school and writing, recording and touring on albums over the course of those 25 years.

After “Bread & Circus,” they followed with “Pale” in 1990, “fear” in ’91, “Dulcinea” in 1994, and “Coil” in 1997, as well as some compilations and rarities compilations along the way. While most will feel the comforting familiarity of the Billboard-charting hits, “Walk on the Ocean,” “All I Want,” “Something’s Always Wrong,” and “Fall Down,” new fans will also be well familiar with their new hits such as “California Wasted” which continues to climb the charts. Even with a period of the band members weaving in and out of each other’s musical lives, the same creative curiosity that inspired the band to form in 1986 has brought them full circle to come back together again. Toad the Wet Sprocket’s last album “New Constellation,” which was launched with an impressive #3 most funded Kickstarter Campaign in music for the year, was the bands’ first new album in 16 years when released in 2013, and features the singles “New Constellation”, “The Moment”, and “California Wasted.” The band’s current release, the EP “Architect of Ruin” was released in June of 2015.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Summer at the Center: Poco, Orleans and Pure Prairie League
Poco
For more than 50 years, their distinctive harmonies and stellar musicianship helped define the sound of country-rock. Still led by the band co-founder and multiinstrumentalist who wrote and sang their biggest hits, they are a dedicated unit of four formidable songwriters, vocalists, arrangers and players. And rather than rest on any of these considerable laurels, they instead hit stages coast-to-coast armed with the kind of classic songs and instrumental chops that puts performers half their age to shame. In other words, Poco today is a band reborn.

Orleans
Orleans is best known as the Pop/Rock band that brought you the classic 70s hits Still The One, Dance With Me and Love Takes Time. Now in its 46th year, Orleans has produced a body of work spanning 16+ albums and 4 DVDs. The band continues to be in great demand for live performances, as they have been for over 4 decades. Co-founders Lance Hoppen and John Hall, along with long-standing members Lane Hoppen, Fly Amero and Charlie Morgan deliver Orleans’ music with power, class and integrity to appreciative audiences everywhere.

Pure Prairie League
From their beginnings in mid-Sixties Ohio as a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day unit featuring founding member/pedal-steel innovator John David Call, veteran bassist Mike Reilly, propulsive drummer Scott Thompson and guitar ace Donnie Clark, PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE continues to embellish the rich 43-year history of one of Country-Rock’s pioneering forces. As one reviewer recently wrote: “PPL’s sound combines sweet memories with edgy, contemporary muscle. Their vocals are as strong as Kentucky moonshine and the musicianship and performance skills are as sharp as a straight razor”.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

The program features ballet excerpts from classical and contemporary favorites, followed by a performance of Brief Fling by choreographer Twyla Tharp.

The title references both the traditional Scottish dance and a short-lived romance. Isaac Mizrahi’s tartan costumes divide the dancers into clans of blue, red, green and off-white. ELF – The Musical
One of the most beloved holiday movies in recent years is live on stage!
