7000 Reasons Pop Up
Wes Magyar is best known for his portraits and narrative oil paintings depicting people in mysterious situations. His faceted mark-making pushes the paintings away from the purely representational towards something more evocative. His solo work is in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum and represented by William Havu Gallery in Denver, CO.

After 10 years of exhibiting in Denver, Mykonos, and London galleries, Jonathan Saiz has spent the last several years building his own experimental art market where he attempts to engage as many people as possible - often with messy but surprisingly expansive results. Painting, sculpture, Instagram, publishing, neon signage, art kiosks, and temporary artist-run projects like 7000 reasons have become intermingling mediums for experimentation.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Summer at the Center: Poco, Orleans and Pure Prairie League
Poco
For more than 50 years, their distinctive harmonies and stellar musicianship helped define the sound of country-rock. Still led by the band co-founder and multiinstrumentalist who wrote and sang their biggest hits, they are a dedicated unit of four formidable songwriters, vocalists, arrangers and players. And rather than rest on any of these considerable laurels, they instead hit stages coast-to-coast armed with the kind of classic songs and instrumental chops that puts performers half their age to shame. In other words, Poco today is a band reborn.

Orleans
Orleans is best known as the Pop/Rock band that brought you the classic 70s hits Still The One, Dance With Me and Love Takes Time. Now in its 46th year, Orleans has produced a body of work spanning 16+ albums and 4 DVDs. The band continues to be in great demand for live performances, as they have been for over 4 decades. Co-founders Lance Hoppen and John Hall, along with long-standing members Lane Hoppen, Fly Amero and Charlie Morgan deliver Orleans’ music with power, class and integrity to appreciative audiences everywhere.

Pure Prairie League
From their beginnings in mid-Sixties Ohio as a group of friends playing cover tunes to the present-day unit featuring founding member/pedal-steel innovator John David Call, veteran bassist Mike Reilly, propulsive drummer Scott Thompson and guitar ace Donnie Clark, PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE continues to embellish the rich 43-year history of one of Country-Rock’s pioneering forces. As one reviewer recently wrote: “PPL’s sound combines sweet memories with edgy, contemporary muscle. Their vocals are as strong as Kentucky moonshine and the musicianship and performance skills are as sharp as a straight razor”.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Summer at the Center: An Evening Under the Stars
Join Colorado Ballet at the Arvada Center for An Evening Under the Stars. The program features ballet excerpts from classical and contemporary favorites, followed by a performance of Brief Fling by choreographer Twyla Tharp.

The title references both the traditional Scottish dance and a short-lived romance. Isaac Mizrahi’s tartan costumes divide the dancers into clans of blue, red, green and off-white. The score by Michel Colombier intersperses Percy Grainger’s sunny interpretations of traditional melodies from the United Kingdom with an ominous electronic score.

dDon’t miss this enchanting evening with beautiful music and dancing, starring Colorado Ballet.
6901 Wadsworth Blvd. Arvada, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Sin Street Social Club
This flirty, fun, feminist comedy is a bold new take on Aphra Behn’s restoration classic The Rover , adapted by Denver playwright Jessica Austgen. Helen, a novice nun, and Florie Mae, her nightclub singing sister, taken to the streets of 1916 New Orleans in a last-ditch effort to save their departed daddy’s dance club. The going may be rough, but the St. Claire sisters won’t let a host of dingy Storyville denizens—an overly-protective older brother, a rakish rover, and a disgruntled gangster’s moll—stand in their way as they discover their destinies and ultimately find love.
