Lorenzo Triburgo Artist Talk and Workshop
Learn more about the work of Lorenzo Triburgo through discussion and activism.
About this Event
Focusing specifically on the LGBTQ+ community, artist Lorenzo Triburgo aims to create a platform in which these people can speak their truth and have their voices and stories heard.

In his series, Policing Gender, Lorenzo became long-term pen pals with 32 prison inmates who identify as LGBTQ+ . He never questioned why they were in prison, but instead simply shared personal and emotional memories, such as their coming out stories, their fears, their triumphs and their goals for the future. Lorenzo visually represented these conversations through portrait and aerial photography, on view now at the CVA in Gravity of Perception.

Join us on Wednesday, February 20th at 6 pm to learn more about Lorenzo's work and practice. In addition to discussion time with the artist, there will be a workshop led by Lorenzo where participants will have the opportunity to engage in their own social justice activism by writing letters to LGBTQ+ inmates.
965 Santa Fe Dr. Denver, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Kris Graves and Zora Murff Artist Talk
Immerse yourself in the stories and histories that inform Kris Graves' and Zora Murff's photography work.

Join us on Thursday, March 21 at 6 pm for an evening of discovery and discussion with both artists and to see their work in Gravity of Perception on view now at CVA.

Kris Graves and Zora Murff both use photography to investigate themes of oppression and institutionalized discrimination. Graves' photography is a form of visual communication in which he speaks on what he views as wrong with American Society and works to elevate representations of people of color in the fine art cannon. He focuses on the topics of race, representation and urban life. With degrees in both psychology and studio art, Murff uses his combined knowledge of human experiences and art to express how images are used to reinforce social and cultural constructions of race and criminality.
965 Santa Fe Dr. Denver, CO America/North_Dakota/Center
