Book Signing & Cider Sampling
Cider lovers are invited to join us for a special evening with Erin James, editor of Cidercraft and Sip Northwest magazines, as she discusses and signs her new book Tasting Cider: The Cidercraft Guide to the Distinctive Flavors of North American Hard Cider ($19.95 Storey Publishing). We'll mix, mingle, and sample cider provided by Stem Ciders, an urban cidery located in the heart of Denver's RiNo District beginning at 6:30 pm, where guests can meet fellow cider lovers and talk with the author.

Then at 7:00 pm, Erin James will present Tasting Cider. This complete guide to North America's oldest beverage celebrates hard cider's rich history and its modern makers, as well as its deliciously diverse possibilities. Flavor profiles and tasting guidelines highlight 100 selections of cider -- including single varietal, dessert, hopped, and barrel-aged -- plus perry, cider's pear-based cousin.
America/North_Dakota/Center

Book Discussion & Signing: Because It Is So Beautiful
Robert Leonard Reid will read from and sign his collection of essays Because It Is So Beautiful: Unraveling the Mystique of the American West ($26.00 Counterpoint LLC) - a response to desperate questions surrounding the protection and preservation of America's wildlands.

In this collection, Reid distinguishes himself from many science-based nature writers, using the natural world as a springboard for speculations and musings on the numinous and the sacred, injustice, homelessness, the plight of the Indians, and what pushes mountaineers to climb. Ranging in their settings from eastern New Mexico to northern Alaska, Reid's essays illustrate, often in poetic turns of prose, his belief that the American West is worth celebrating and caring for. Above all, because it is so beautiful.
America/North_Dakota/Center

Book Discussion & Signing: Why Buddhism is True
From one of America's greatest minds comes a journey through psychology, philosophy, and lots of meditation to show how Buddhism holds the key to moral clarity and enduring happiness.

Robert Wright will discuss and sign Why Buddhism Is True: The Science and Philosophy of Meditation and Enlightenment ($27.00 Simon & Schuster). At once excitingly ambitious and wittily accessible, this is the first book to combine evolutionary psychology with cutting-edge neuroscience to defend the radical claims at the heart of Buddhist philosophy. With bracing honesty and fierce wisdom, it will persuade you not just that Buddhism is true--which is to say, a way out of our delusion--but that it can ultimately save us from ourselves, as individuals and as a species.
America/North_Dakota/Center
