Improv Hootenanny
The Bovine's Community Night. Every Monday night is an Improv Festival.

Come one, come all to the best darn improv hootenanny in Denver and the Front Range. Every Monday night for the last 17 years, Bovine Metropolis has let its doors swing open wide to welcome teams of improv performers from Colorado to join the stage and share their own hilarious improvised adventures.

Coming from different backgrounds and with different levels of experience, each team brings something unique to the stage and leaves the audience with an unforgettable night. Among the performers, audiences will see classes from the Bovine’s improv school, visiting teams, and several house favorites.

"We are a welcoming theater and enjoy seeing improv grow around Denver. We think it’s really cool to see different venues, groups, and performers pop up around town. The Bovine has been around a long time and I believe the Improv Hootenanny has contributed much to that,” says Improv Hootenanny-in-Chief Denise Maes.

Anyone who wants to see something new, which could mean anyone who’s a fan of improv, will enjoy the variety of talent gracing the Bovine’s stage. And as an audience member, you’ll have your chance to add to the fun by offering suggestions and watching as these performers use them to step into the unknown.

See website for performance schedule of Improv Teams.
1527 Champa St. Denver, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Heirs of Hogwarts: An Improvised Adventure
Apparate Over for a Night of Magic!

Send out your owls! Hogwarts has been rebuilt and the future generations of magical children are all excited for a year at Hogwarts.

He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named has been destroyed, there surely is no evil left to threaten the Heirs of Hogwarts... or is there?

Experience a loving homage to the world of Harry Potter. With completely improvised story lines, this is a heartfelt send-up to the universe created by J.K. Rowling and is the only Harry Potter themed improv show in Denver. Imagine a love letter in the form of spoof, and that’s what witches, wizards and muggles will be enjoying Friday Nights at 8:00 p.m. at the Bovine Metropolis Theater.

And just like a Bag of Bertie Bott’s every flavored beans, “Anything can happen,” says Gryffindor and Dramaturg, Kent Welborn. “In improv anything can happen, and then in the magical world of Harry Potter anything can happen double.”

All the things you love about the Harry Potter universe will be displayed on stage: charms, Hogwarts houses, transfiguration, and magical creatures. Returning to Hogwarts has never been this funny. “Heirs of Hogwarts: An Improvised Adventure” is a loving fan-fiction parody of an entire year at Hogwarts.

Expect, “Magic,” says Welborn.

Come by portkey, broom, or apparition to the Bovine Metropolis Theater, to revel in all things magical. Your presence is requested, by the professors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, first years are reminded not to do magic outside of school.

Plays Friday or Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. through November 2017.

Tickets: $18 online, $20 at the door.

When you buy tickets to Heirs of Hogwarts at 8:00 p.m. you get admission (and more laughs) to "On The Spot" at 10:15 for FREE!
This show is for all ages and seats are general admission.
1527 Champa St. Denver, CO America/North_Dakota/Center

Inspired by the music, dance, and style of the Jazz Age and musicals such as Cabaret and Chicago, Improv Cabaret explores both the high-energy and dangerous sides of life in a metropolis through improvised scenes and music.

“You get the experience of seeing a musical in Denver’s theater district,” says Director Kat Bond, “AND you have the joy of seeing the only performance created by your suggestions. It’s your private performance of a one-time show."

Be careful, though—not everything in Improv Cabaret is coming up roses. All those passing strangers, those narrow alleyways, those high-rise shadows mean that danger lurks in the urban jungle.

“Improv Cabaret is a dangerous musical," says Bond. "While it is a comedy, we will not shy away from scarier or grittier subject matter. . . . Our characters will be on the fringe of society, the oddballs. You can be a murderer or a starlet in this show, even if you work at the dog groomer. Expect to laugh. Expect a story. On The Spot: A New Year's Eve Improv Show
Celebrate 2018 With Us!

It gets cold outside celebrating the New Year, so stay inside and warm your funny bone until just moments before the big fireworks display. This year there are three showings on New Year’s Eve and the evening shows are timed so that the audience can enjoy the warm laughs and still catch the fireworks displays at 9:00 and 12:00 midnight mere feet away from the front door of the Bovine.

It's is a great way to find entertainment downtown away from the swarms of the New Year revelry, a great balance between fun and gut-busting entertainment, and a unique place to ring in 2018.

“Whose Line is it Anyway” is the most familiar version of game based improv, and many of the games in “On The Spot” are similar. And like “Whose Line...” this show features a cast of close friends. The cast is throwing a party for the audience complete with noisemakers, party hats, and a heck of a good time.

Showtimes & Tickets:
12:00 p.m. (noon) Tickets: $25 online and at the door - a Family Favorite!
7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m. Tickets $40: Early purchase discount at $35 online through December 26th. Tickets: December 27th - 31st online and at the door are $40.

These shows are for all ages and seats are general admission. There are no additional fees when purchasing tickets through our website. New Year's Eve party hats, noise makers and glow in the dark sticks provided!
