CAN'T MISS EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

Plan your Denver weekend around one of these only-in-Denver happenings!

CAPITOL HILL PEOPLE'S FAIR

WHEN: TBA, 2018
WHERE: Civic Center Park

One of the largest two-day festivals in the country, the Capitol Hill People's Fair is also one of Colorado's longest-running outdoor festivals. Special features include a wine pavilion, jazz stage, "Fine Art Avenue," food from local restaurants, and a hoppin' kids' area. It's truly an event for the people!

DENVER CHALK ART FESTIVAL

WHEN: TBA, 2018
WHERE: Larmier Square

Every spring, the sidewalks around Larimer Square come to life during the annual Denver Chalk Art Festival, as more than 200 professional, amateur and student chalk artists turn concrete into canvas. This is a don't-miss event, especially since these masterpieces will be washed away with the next spring shower.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK BEER FESTIVAL

WHERE: 2191 Arapahoe St., Denver, CO 80205

Denver has plenty of golden oldies when it comes to breweries: Wynkoop Brewing Company, Great Divide Brewing Co., Tivoli Brewing Company — the list goes on. This spring, why not check out some of the newbies at the New Kids on the Block Beer Festival? Dance to 80s tunes (including, we're sure, some vintage NKOTB) while you sample pours from Spangalang BreweryThe Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project, SeedstockWestFax Brewing Co and more, each showcasing two of their favorite beers.

SPRING FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

ELITCH GARDENS THEME & WATER PARK

The nation's only downtown theme and water park opens for the season on April 29, 2017. With 54 thrilling rides, plus a splash-filled, 10-acre Water Park, musical stages, stunt shows and arcades, there's something at Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park for just about everyone.

DENVER B-CYCLE

Explore the city on two wheels! Denver B-cycle is an automated bike-sharing system designed for short trips around The Mile High City. It's easy and fun. You can check out one of more than 700 bikes from any one of 88 stations (conveniently located near major attractions and neighborhoods) and return it to any other station.

COLORADO ROCKIES

Major league baseball returns to downtown Denver's Coors Field and the fun continues all spring and summer long. For an affordable option, buy tickets in the Rockpile, where seats start at $4.

SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING

The mountains are just a short drive (or train ride) away, and the snow generally sticks around until May (sometimes later), so you can enjoy some of the best skiing and snowboarding all spring. Savvy snow sports lovers know that one of the best ways to hit the slopes and get a world-class vacation at the same time is to stay in Downtown Denver and take day trips out to the mountains. Winter Park is a resort that's about an hour and a half from Denver that boasts 320 inches of annual snowfall. However, just because you can count on good snow doesn't mean you should expect to ski in blizzard conditions. On average, Winter Park has 300 days of sunshine a year!
