The hotel business is booming in Denver.

The downtown area is home to nearly 13,000 hotel rooms within short walking distance of the Colorado Convention Center, and there are more than 55,000 first-class hotel rooms in the greater metro area. Here’s a rundown of key hotel updates.

Populus at Civic Center Park (Urban Village & Studio Group)

A 265-room, 13-story sutainable hotel with event space/ballroom, multiple food and beverage venues, as well as a rooftop deck and bar. Its breathtaking exterior takes inspiration from the trunks of Colorado’s native aspen trees and uses as many reclaimed and eco-friendly materials as possible. Instead of buying carbon credits, the hotel planted 70,000 trees in Gunnison, Colorado.


Urban Cowboy

The historic George Schleier Mansion in the heart of the Capitol Hill neighborhood is the newest outpost for Urban Cowboy, a national hotel brand. With current locations in the Catskills and Nashville, this boutique hotel will offer a luxurious Western experience with a historical nod to Denver’s roots.

Cambria Hotel Denver Downtown RiNo

A 153-room hotel in Denver’s River North (RiNo) Arts District with 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space that provides Rocky Mountain views. The Zeppelin light rail station is an easy walk from the hotel.


Kimpton Claret Hotel

Situated in the heart of the fast-developing Belleview Station along the growing South Denver Corridor. The 19-story, new-build hotel features 190 guest rooms, 10,000 square feet of meetings and events spaces and two distinct dining outlets, including a 19th floor rooftop bar offering dramatic, 180-degree views of the Rocky Mountains.


Sonder Skyline

A 93-room hotel that borders the Highland, downtown and Jefferson Park neighborhoods. Each apartment features floor-to-ceiling windows and in-suite laundry.

Virgin Hotel (Virgin Hotels & Vita Fox North LP)

A 241-room hotel with indoor and outdoor meeting space, rooftop lounge, coffee shop, event space, restaurant and 8,000-square-foot spa/fitness area. It's part of the World Trade Center complex now in development in north Denver, which will bring in people and cultures from around the world.
